Talamasca – Musica Divinorum(2001)

Talamasca – Musica Divinorum

he splendor of psytrance! Simple, “stupid”, repetitive, and ignorant. At least when it’s done the Talamasca way. From a full on angle Cédric Dassule takes on bashing all the old-skool-to-death goa fans, acquainting them to a hybrid between yesterdays mother psychedelia and todays youngsters. There’s no doubt about it. Talamasca got a good grab on the dancefloors!

What sets Talamasca apart from the crowd is his ability to sound like the crowd when the crowd sounds best, and then being able to make up his own personality. Dark and sinister, personality, that is. Stealing the high pitch sounds, themes and melodies of post 2000 psytrance while having a firm grasp of the bass of mid nineties goatrance. When it’s best, this is the new generation.

One of my favorite tracks here could be track 6 The Old School. It even goes as far as irritating me in the first half of it! Repetitive, but with no climaxes, cheery, but with only occasional repetitiveness, long (damn!), yet without promises of what to come. I’m almost giving up on it, and then I find myself dancing to it …

The new sounds … they got something. They got something.

Anyway, I like it. Most of it. Recommended for fans of music, fans of 2006 psytrance, psychedelic full on and daring ball’sy happy melodic evil-when-itwants-it trance.
