In 1996, Tomek played at a party with FRED GITEAU [POF Records]. He played him a few tracks that they had made and FRED instantly asked if it was possible to release one of them called “AURA GENOVA”.
Next year , they made their international debut on the POF RECORDS compilation “NATARAJA Vol. II” under the name IMAGO. That same year they released their first 12” on TRANSIENT RECORDS as PROMESA called “ THE POLISH EP.” These tracks were licensed to a few compilations and got impressive reviews in WAX, DREAM CREATION and DJ Magazine. This lead to them releasing their first album “PASMA CZASU” in Poland for POLSTAR RECORDS which sold over 2,000 copies only in Poland. The opening track “ARABSKIE NOCE” was licensed to a Polish compilation called “TRANSELECTED BY DJ SESIS” which sold over 4,000.
In 1998 they began a new project with one of Poland’s most respected and talented minimal techno DJ/Producers KRISB. Their first track “STEREOPIAN” was released by PSYCHIC DELI RECORDS on the “TROMESA VS KRISB EP.” in April that year. The track received great reviews from MARK ALLEN in MIXMAG UPDATE, DJ BARAKA in DREAM CREATION as well as being the only trance track reviewed in DJ Magazine. The track was released on the “FILL YOUR HEAD…” compilation from PHANTASM RECORDS. This lead to the release of their second album “GDYBY….” for POLSTAR RECORDS. This album sold over 2,000 copies in Poland and included both tracks from the PSYCHI DELI RECORDS EP. A few months later their second track with KRISB “Podmchem” was released on the first Polish vinyl EP. called “PSYCHEDELIC PONCH” which promoted the second TRANSELECTED COMPILATION by DJ SESIS of the same name. The CD also included “LAKSMANA” from their second album. It sold over 3,000 copies in Poland.
They continued their co-operation with PRAECOX, however they decided that they should have a new name for this project and that is how BIGWIGS was born. This project concentrated on experimental sounds. The first track under the name BIGWIGS ‘CÓRKI LOTA’ was released on the Spiral Trax International Compilation ‘Internationalism‘. One of their trax ‘PIERWSZY RAZ‘ appeared on DJ Mahasuka’s compilation. Their track ‘QUO VADIS‘ appeared on the first DIGITAL STRUCTURES compilation as well as the first album “Fraktalik Fraterniti.
The third Tromesa album entitled “Pseudomental” was released on Spiral Trax International in 2001 together with a 12” featuring the tracks “Owig-Weg”and “Migot Komorek”. This was followed by their second 12” for Spiral Trax International in 2002 featuring the trax “Epileptik Dens” and “Luz Blus”.
After 15 years of silence they have once again reactivated the project in 2018. Watch out for more new tunes coming soon.
